Built for the scroll.
Seven things Reel does differently — a full-screen, swipeable reading experience with the small details worked out.
Full-Screen Reels Feed
The homepage isn't a list — it's a feed. Every post takes the whole screen, one swipe or scroll takes you to the next. Built with a custom transform-driven paging system, not native scroll, so a swipe can never travel more than exactly one post and there's no bounce-back or skipping.
Custom Pull-to-Refresh
Pull down on the very first post and a small indicator appears. Pull far enough and the feed refreshes — a native-app gesture, rebuilt from scratch since the feed's fixed layout means the browser's own pull-to-refresh has nothing to grab onto.
Post Image Style
A site-wide toggle in Design & branding → Customize switches every post between a full hero image and a clean, text-first layout — no photo, just tag, title, and byline on a plain background.
Accent Color, Automatically
Reel's amber highlights — tags, the progress rail, links — are wired directly to Ghost's own Accent Color setting. Change it once in Settings → Design & branding and the whole theme follows, no code required.
Paid Member Lock
Set a post's access to Paid-members-only in Ghost Admin and a small lock icon appears automatically on its card and its own page — no manual tagging or extra fields.
Floating “Scan on Mobile”
A QR widget sits in the corner on desktop, encoding whatever page you're currently looking at. Scan it and the exact same page opens on your phone — self-hosted, no third-party service involved.
