Reel

About this site

Reel is a full-screen reading experience.

Most blog themes ask you to scroll past a post to find the next one. Reel doesn't. Every story fills the whole screen — swipe up, and you're already reading the next one. It's the feed format you already know from short-video apps, built for words and photography instead.

Why build a theme like this?

Because attention is scarce, and the format of a page shapes how people read it. A full-bleed image, a headline, and a few lines of text — that's often enough to know whether a story is worth your next thirty seconds. Reelfeed is built around that decision point, one post at a time.

What's inside

  • A custom, transform-driven paging system — not native scroll — so a swipe never travels more than exactly one post
  • A native-feeling pull-to-refresh, rebuilt from scratch for a fixed-position feed
  • A site-wide toggle between full hero images and a clean, text-first layout
  • Automatic support for Ghost's Accent Color and font settings — no code required
  • A paid-member lock badge that appears automatically on gated posts
  • A floating "Scan on mobile" QR widget for quick handoff to a phone
  • A dropdown navigation bar on desktop, built from the same links as the mobile menu

This site is the live demo — every post here is here to be swiped through, not just read about.
